DTL2e - A snapshot in August 2025

While contract tendering for the 4 civil contracts continues for the Downtown Line 2 Extension (DTL2e), work has commenced on advanced site preparation in the form of demolition works. Contract 9177, awarded to Woh Hup Engineering Pte Ltd, has seen the hoarding up of several factories within the Sungei Kadut project corridor. We take a look at the progress made and views around the 2 future stations after the jump.

DE01 - Intermediate station
In a nutshell: Located along Sungei Kadut Avenue, the future intermediate station will sit beneath an existing row of factories near the corner before the road intersects Woodlands Road. Signs on the gates and fences of the properties here indicate that they were being prepared under contract 9177 for demolition. One property in particular, already had machinery on site and demolition debris was visible. Gradually as time passes, more properties would likely follow suit.

Contract 9177 is due to be completed by Q2 2028 as indicated from the project notices hung at some of the properties. This provides a long runway for the demolition of the various properties, with those in the immediate vicinity of the future station likely to be dealt with first, followed by others that may have a lower impact on the station's construction after.

DE02 - Interchange terminus
In a nutshell: Similar works were taking place at the location of the interchange terminus station as well, also under contract 9177. Particularly noticeable are works at 10 Sungei Kadut Street 2, where the roof of the property has begun showing visible signs of being taken apart. Hoarding has also gone up along the edge of the property abutting the reserved strip of land where the existing North-South Line (NSL) viaduct sits. Slightly further north, at 27 Sungei Kadut Street 2, offices have yet to be vacated and works under contract 9177 have not begun. The future DTL station will sit beneath these 2 properties, while the NSL section of the station would sit on the reserved strip of land.
