DTL2e - A recap in August 2026

 

An overview of new renders released for DE1 station and the site progress at the DE2/NS6
interchange in August 2026.

With the award of all 4 civil contracts for the Downtown Line 2 Extension (DTL2e), advanced works were progressing and works on the main contracts were commencing. Over at the sites of the two stations, clearing works as part of the advanced contract were still underway. Works under main contract 991 for the construction of connecting tunnels between DE1, DE2 and Gali Batu depot however were about to kick off proper.

DE2/NS6 - Sungei Kadut (Contract 990)
Site clearing works were still underway, although good progress had been made since. The plots at 36 Sungei Kadut Street 2 and 10 Sungei Kadut Street 2 had since been cleared, with most traces of the former buildings there since erased. Demolition works were ongoing for the plots of land at 9 & 11 Sungei Kadut Street 2, next to the JTC Trendspace building. Demolition of these newer buildings is likely to take some time more, hence permanent works for the civil structures such as diaphragm walls may only begin to take shape in the coming year. To date, the site office has not been established yet either.

Tunnels for DTL2e (Contract 991)
Sites to the south, between Sungei Kadut Street 1 and Sungei Kadut Avenue were cleared earlier on. These areas will be used for contract 991 where a launch shaft for tunnel boring works will be built. Heavy machinery for these works is already on site ahead of works commencement.

DE1 - Intermediate station (Contract 992)
This is less of a recap of the construction progress on site but more of a sharing of new renders that were released by contractor Woh Hup of the station. There have been slight design amendments over previous renders, but the structure of the station appears to be kept largely the same.

Contract 992

With progress being made on site clearing and the first contract having heavy duty machinery mobilised on site, we can expect a ground breaking ceremony to be held in time to come. This would officially kick off construction on the project, signaling advancement into the next phase of works.
