Contracts 990 & 992 - Next two DTL2e civil contracts awarded

Summary of DTL2e contracts.

Today, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) successfully awarded 2 contracts for the Downtown Line 2 extension (DTL2e). The two contracts will see the completion of two stations along the extension, one of which will serve as an interchange with the North-South Line (NSL).

The first contract awarded is for contract 992 which covers the design & construction of the DE1 Intermediate station only. The station will be built with 2 exits connecting to street level, a vehicular bridge that will serve to extend Choa Chu Kang North 7 to Woodlands Road and a pedestrian overhead bridge connecting one of the exits across the Pang Sua canal to the residential precinct along Choa Chu Kang Crescent. This contract has been awarded to Woh Hup Engineering Pte Ltd, whom are also in charge of the demolition of existing factories and warehouses for the project. The company is also currently constructing the Loyang and Punggol stations along the Cross Island Line (CRL).

station, likely due to clearly demarcated sections between the two operators of the lines. As a
whole though, the station will function as an integrated interchange.

The second contract awarded is for contract 990, which will be for the design & construction of the DE2/NS6 Sungei Kadut station. The LTA refers to the stations separately, despite the two functioning as a single integrated interchange, likely due to the demarcation point between the two operators of the lines. Works under this contract will see the modification of the existing NSL tracks to accommodate a crossover switch to the north of the station, the station box for the underground DE2 station and cut & cover tunnels on either end of the underground station. This contract was awarded to a joint venture between Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC). CCCC is currently constructing Boon Lay station on the Jurong Region Line (JRL) and Tampines North, King Albert Park and Clementi stations on the CRL. To the best of our knowledge, this will be Samwoh's first rail project locally.

With the award of the two contracts today, one civil contract remains to be awarded for the project - contract 993 for the construction of tunnels between the DE1 Intermediate station and the existing Downtown Line tunnels. Works on the two contracts awarded today are expected to commence in Q2 2026.
