DTL2e - Final civil contract floated

Contract 993 tender details.

Today, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) floated the final civil contract tender for the Downtown Line 2 extension (DTL2e) - contract 993. This contract will see the construction of twin bored tunnels from the DE1 Intermediate station to the existing DTL main line tunnels. A docking shaft will be built as part of the contract near the junction of Senja Way and Woodlands Road.

As with the other civil contracts under the DTL2e project, the delivery date of this contract is 30 March 2035. This would suggest that DTL2e would potentially be operational around the first half of 2035.

Summary table for the DTL2e civil contracts.

Now that all the civil contracts for the project have been floated for tender, the contracts will remain open for approximately 6 to 9 months for pre-qualified contractors to submit bids. Extensions may be granted to allow more time for contractors to prepare their bids, which will include information such as method statements, proposed alternative construction schemes and manpower supply for the contract's supervision, among others. It will take approximately a year for the contracts to be evaluated first based on quality of the submitted proposal and secondly based on price quoted.

Following the evaluations, the contracts will be awarded. We should expect this to take place towards the end of 2026, with construction works on the project beginning proper some time in 2027. Till then, all works would be part of the advanced works phase, which will serve to enable the projects' works to commence. Should the team receive more information or come across further details, we'll be sure to update accordingly.
